180º OF LIGHT

CORBY, ROTHWELL AND DESBOROUGH, NORTHAMPTONSHIRE, 2011

This twelve day piece wasn’t promoted yet thousands of people came to see it having heard about it via twitter and Facebook. Six lasers created a massive triangle of light that was 80 meters above ground for 5 miles x 5.2 miles x 2.2 miles. This piece became the largest artwork created in the UK.

Two lasers exited each of three water towers and two lasers arrived on to each drum. Fast moving striations of horizontal light could be seen on each water tower. The alchemical symbol for water is a triangle.

Cultural Olympiad project.

Concept

To create a dynamic piece that no one knew what it was. This 12 day piece wasn’t promoted and thousands of people came to see it having heard about it via twitter and facebook or having seen it in the distance. The lasers created a massive triangle of light 80 meters above ground for 5 miles x 5.2 miles and 2.2 miles. Clearly visible for miles around this piece became the largest artwork created in the UK.

We used 3 water towers and 6 lasers. Each water tower had 2 lasers exiting and 2 lasers arriving onto their drum.
